Seventeen employees from Warner Bros. and HBO participated in a two-day training and matching event as part of the 2017 Board Leadership Program (BLP). One of the few company sponsored corporate board training programs in Los Angeles, BLP has provided training to over 230 employees interested in serving as board members in the communities where they live and work.
With content and facilitation provided by Community Partners and Blue Garnet, the program provided insight into best practices on how to be effective and serve responsibly on a nonprofit board of directors. The matching event introduced BLP graduates to 13 local nonprofits with a variety of focuses including girls’ empowerment, immigrants’ rights and homelessness. With nonprofits such as DIY Girls and Project Angel Food in attendance, program participants and alumni had the opportunity to learn more about the issues facing Los Angeles and ways they can make a difference through nonprofit board service.
