Last week, the Warner Bros. Emerging Directors Workshop showcased five short films in its inaugural film festival held on the Warner Bros. Studio lot in Burbank. Emerging filmmakers Kristin Burke, Elaine Mongeon, Xu Zhang, Alexis Ostrander and Justin Floyd were chosen from thousands of applicants for the ultimate opportunity to showcase their work to the film community after a nine-month intensive fellowship at Warner Bros. The five participants worked through the entire film production process, from pitch to final cut and premiere.
Designed to give access and voice to new and underrepresented talent, the Emerging Film Directors Workshop provides an opportunity for emerging filmmakers to gain an education and experience in the studio filmmaking process.
“Each of these films and the talented directors behind them is unique, thoughtful and provocative,” said Toby Emmerich, President and COO, Warner Bros. Pictures Group. “The level of creativity and dedication brought by Justin, Kristin, Xu, Elaine and Alexis is awesome, and we’re excited for them to continue honing their craft and telling great stories. I’m proud that Warner Bros. is helping to give voice to the next generation of filmmakers through our Film Directors Workshop.”
Through the program, the Studio will also continue its tradition of working with and nurturing the talents of the best up-and-coming filmmakers. To learn more about the Emerging Film Directors Workshop, click here.
